How to care for…

Shearling

Shearling is as soft to the touch as it is beautiful to look at. Freshly sheared sheepskin has been tanned and trimmed for a beautifully fluffy finish. The curls can be more or less pronounced according to which part of the hide is used and ensure that each bag is unique. Shearling’s soft touch gives it a particularly warm and wintery feel and dresses our emblematic shapes in an unexpected and luxurious way.

Care instructions

Your Delvaux is made of the highest quality Shearling, sourced from France. It has been selected and crafted with great care by our master craftsmen working in our workshops in Belgium and France.

We recommend taking the following steps to preserve the timeless beauty of your leather:

  • Should your Delvaux be damaged in any way, please take it to one of our boutiques or contact our customer support.

  • Store your Delvaux in its original dustbag and stuff it with tissue paper to preserve its shape.

  • Take care not to overfill your Delvaux as this could permanently damage its shape.

  • Avoid all contact with oil, grease, perfume and cosmetics.

  • If the Shearling gets wet, gently dab the curls dry with a soft, clean cloth to absorb a maximum amount of humidity and leave to dry away from any sources of heat.

  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat, to avoid any fading or discoloration.

  • Avoid contact of dark-coloured clothing against a light-coloured skin and dark-coloured skins against light-coloured garments, as dye transfer could occur.

  • The metal hardware will develop a patina over time. Any metal pieces can be cleaned by gently rubbing with a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth.

  • Do not use Delvaux's 'First Care' range on your Delvaux as it is not suitable for Shearling
